Countdown to the NeverBeast: 5 Days!

Fly with you all today! Only 5 days (albeit it feels like 5 years...) until us Fairies fans are graced with the latest film, Tinker Bell And The Legend Of The NeverBeast. For today's post, I'm gonna discuss Nyx, a new scout fairy being introduced in "NeverBeast", and one who I'm really looking forward to seeing in action, and scout fairies in general.

Let's talk about Nyx and her fellow warriors after the jump!

Scout fairy leader Nyx protects Pixie Hollow and all of the fairies. A true pro, Nyx takes her job very seriously--maybe too seriously.

While scout fairies have been around in Pixie Hollow from the beginning, we've never really seen them in action, aside from the hawk encounter in the first "Tinker Bell", although it was more of a group fairy effort (and the flinging of berries, much to Vidia's dismay...) that drove the hawk away. With "Legend Of The NeverBeast", we now get a good look at who and what exactly the scout fairies are and what they do. What I like about them is how they are essentially the Pixie Hollow military, roaming the forests and fields for dangers and threats to the inhabiting fairies.

What kind of warriors/defenders would Nyx and her scouts be without armor and weapons? From first seeing Nyx and subsequent clips and photos, I love how they have given scout fairies a distinct outfit, with a crest on the chest of their armor. As well as armored, they are armed as well, now wielding weapons such as Nyx's porcupine quill spear, and recently a picture was released of a scout fairy wielding a bow and arrow as crafted from a porcupine quill. (An aside, I hope they release these weapons as toys of some sort. Last year Tink and Zarina's swords they used in The Pirate Fairy were released as costume accessories, and I'm a proud owner of Tink's epic sword!). The inclusion of weapons excites me, showing that these fairies, including Nyx, mean business, and that Pixie Hollow is not always a flitterific and safe place, that there are dangers threatening the denizens.

Nyx is a no-nonsense, by-the-book fairy, as we have seen in prior sneak peeks. I like this attribute of hers, not only because it's sort of a new thing to have a fairy who is so stern in what they do, but because it shows us, again, that danger is very real, and that a lot of the times, it's Nyx and her scouts who are between the fairies and certain doom. While she comes off as hard-headed and stubborn in her beliefs of what is and isn't a threat to Pixie Hollow, you can see she really just wants to protect those who need protecting. As she tells Fawn, "I'm not the enemy here.", which us viewers most likely think due to her dislike of Gruff and wanting his capture. But that's only because we've seen the soft side to Gruff, and don't really know his full plan yet. Maybe Nyx does have a point in being hesitant?

A deleted scene was recently released, showing us more of the scout fairies in action. Check it out:

As you can see, these scouts mean business, and know what they're doing. Their tracking of the hawks is a great attribute, and gives us a closer look at what exactly they do and how they go about doing it. It's great to see the scouts know the behavior of their enemy so well, and how they're prepared for mostly anything that can cause harm to them or Pixie Hollow.

One thing is for sure, the scout fairies are one aspect I'm most looking forward to seeing in Tinker Bell And The Legend Of The NeverBeast. Their coolness factor and warrior-like demeanor make them very appealing to me, and I can't wait to see Nyx, Fury, and all the other scouts in action come March 3rd! Again, 5 days to me feels like 5 years right now.... Until tomorrow, fly with you all later!
